3 Simple Steps To Remove Mold From leather

Mold in your leather products is a common problem specially in hot and humid environments. Instead of getting rid off your precious leather goods or not buying a used leather jacket just because it has mold could be a big mistake. there are ways to naturally and safely remove mold from leather furniture, leather goods, leather shoes, and leather garment. In just 3 simple steps that could take no more than a few minutes.

#1. Make the 100% natural solution to move mildew from leather. to make the solution you will need;

2 Oz of baking soda.

2 1/2 Cups of water.

1/2 of lime.

2 Oz of white Vinegar.

mix the ingredients above in the same order. make sure that the bowl or container that you use have enough room because at the moment of adding the Vinegar it will foam because of the baking soda. Make sure you stir it well.

#2. Apply the leather cleaning solution. Get a rag and wet it with the solution that you just created. Rub the artifact that you are looking to clean be somewhat generous with the solution so it get in the wrinkles of the leather and in between the stitches. When you are cleaning a big piece make sure you do this in sections, and if it is too wet just follow up with another clean dry rag to remove the excess of leather cleaning solution. Make sure you don’t miss any spots and take your time to inspect the leather piece that you are cleaning. The lime, Vinegar, and baking soda will go in and remove the mold from the leather.

#3. Rehydrate and condition the leather. It is very important to rehydrate the leather right after you are done cleaning it. the acid of the lime and counterintuitively the water and vinegar will dehydrate the leather. After cleaning your leather it might look opaque, but there is not reason to worry. Just apply any leather deep conditioner to the leather piece that you are cleaning to rehydrate and bring the colors back to life. Make sure you use a microfiber applicator towel or pad so nothing is left on leather. wait for 30 minutes to allow the oils to be sucked in the leather and air dry.
