Then, the skins are pickled, tanned, shaved, bleached, and re-tanned. After this, the skins are dried, dry-cleaned, colored, shaved once more, and finished to seal the color into place. This process allows the characteristics of gator skin to really shine through. The skin of the belly is soft and smooth, yet durable. The skin also has a natural enamel giving it a glossy look. Gator skin has been used for as long as we have hunted as a civilization and is known globally to be a highly durable and luxurious material.
