I am Josue Leonardo, the proud owner, designer, and master leather craftsman behind Taza Leather. As a passionate watch and car enthusiast, I have always been drawn to the spirit of competition, playing sports like soccer, racquetball, and tennis throughout my life.

Born in the bustling metropolis of Mexico City, I later moved to the picturesque West coast of Mexico, settling in Colima where I spent my formative years. At the age of 14, I relocated to Melbourne, Florida, eventually finding my way to New York during my college years. It was here that my curiosity for visual arts and design truly blossomed, fueled by the city’s striking architecture, captivating art, and diverse culinary scene.

One fateful day in Florida, while exploring my local flea and farmers market, I stumbled upon a U.S. Veteran-owned leather goods store. As I stepped inside, I was immediately captivated by the sight of the craftsman skillfully shaping leather into wallets, holsters, and knife sheaths. The rich aroma of leather filled the air, and as I observed his work, I was inspired to learn more about the art of leather crafting. That day, I borrowed a few tools, purchased a square foot of leather, and embarked on my journey to mastery.

Throughout this quest, a single question guided my thoughts: How can I create elegant, minimalist pieces using only the finest materials, and inspire people to embrace a long-lasting, classic, and sustainable approach to wearables? Driven by this vision, I’ve honed my skills to create a range of exceptional products, including alligator wallets, alligator belts, ostrich wallets, and men’s alligator belts.

As a firm believer in minimalism and essentialism, I have woven these philosophies into the very fabric of Taza Leather. By using the highest quality, yet simplest materials and techniques, I strive to create timeless, sustainable pieces that stand the test of time, such as our luxurious alligator wallets and belts, and our sophisticated ostrich wallets.
