Taza Leather in The Melbourne Square Mall

Taza Leather in The Melbourne Square Mall

Why The Melbourne Square Mall:

Since its opening in 1982, The Melbourne Square Mall has provided a plethora of shops, food, events, and entertainment for anyone in or around the Palm Bay, Melbourne, and Space Coast areas across Brevard County. Being well-known among all the locals, the mall provides a great method for new-coming businesses to grow and gain expertise in a professional setting. Drawing in people of all ages, the mall creates great opportunities to meet new people and run into old friends as well. It regularly hosts a Candy Crawl in conjunction with Halloween where each business gives out candy for kids wearing costumes, creating an opportunity for each business to meet new locals and the children, in turn to have a safe and fun atmosphere to collect candy and celebrate Halloween. Another event the Melbourne Square Mall regularly hosts is a Women’s Event in which women business owners are able to display their products and services, additionally creating opportunities between local residents and business owners. Since the mall is not only a fantastic way to connect friends and family, but also businesses and customers; an atmosphere like the mall is a great way to make new connections and spread word of their products from one friend to another.

The Melbourne Square Mall works with the community to fill its spaces and its walls. The Pizza Place, a local mom and pop pizza place has been creating New York and Chicago style pizzas since 2001 and just recently opened a location in the Mall’s food court. Not only does it host great anchor stores, but also local clothing stores, such as YinYang. To fill it’s walls, local artists, such as Christopher Maslow were selected to paint beautiful murals encompassing chosen walls.

Community firefighters and police officers transport their police squad cars and fire trucks, utilizing The Mall’s parking lot for education for children. They are able to talk to, learn from, touch, and experience the trucks and cars and police officers and firefighters. From community organizations to charities such as Habitat for Humanity and CITA. These charities exist to help the community, so the mall donates any furniture, equipment, and tools it can no longer use to these charities.

The Melbourne Square Mall is in addition a creator of job opportunities. Most everyone who works here is a local resident. Hosting job fairs, it also draws in residents, making their time and talents available to businesses in the area, and in turn providing employment for the residents.

“Just wait 20 minutes and the weather will change.” A common statement in Florida, doesn’t apply here. In Florida rain is common and unpredictable. Thankfully, the Mall is all seasons. The weather doesn’t affect. It’s a great getaway to walk and browse or to avoid the rain.

For these reasons, and many more, Taza Leather has decided to open a space in The Melbourne Square Mall offering handcrafted leather goods. An experimental store, we will take these next months to learn about our local community, create meaningful relationships, educate about locals about leather, and aim to stay and become a staple of our community for years to come.
